Pub operator and brewer Brakspear has appointed Steve Head as a business development manager with responsibility for its pubs in Oxfordshire and London.
Head has worked in the hospitality sector for 25 years, in a career which has taken him from barman to business development manager. He joins from Greene King Pub Partners, where he held a BDM role for two years, and a regional manager role for four. His career has also included roles at Admiral Taverns, Punch Taverns and the Voyager Pub Group (previously Bass Taverns).
Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies, said, “Steve has an excellent track record, regularly beating sales and profit targets in all his previous management roles, and achieving outstanding returns on pub redevelopments. We were impressed by his evident talent for all aspects of the BDM role and his experience, and are confident he will be a great asset to the Brakspear team.”
Head commented, “Brakspear have some of the best pubs in the south east, run by some very talented operators. I’m looking forward to working with these tenants and lessees and hope I will be able to help them all to become better retailers, running thriving pubs that are achieving their full potential.”
Brakspear operates around 125 tenanted and leased pubs as well as 11 managed sites. Tenants are supported to run their business with a raft of marketing and promotional activities, a range of training courses, and an ongoing programme of ‘sparkles’ delivered by Brakspear’s in-house design team.
Head is appointed to replace Gerard Winder, who worked for Brakspear for six years.
